AWS Electronics’ investment in new NPI software yields 50% improvement in efficiency

EMS provider reduces TTM for new customer projects; Driven by growth in East European manufacturing centre & reshoring from Far East

Newcastle Under Lyme, UK – September 2015: AWS Electronics Group, one of Europe’s leading specialist electronics manufacturing services providers, has invested £250,000 in Mentor Graphics’ Valor process preparation software increasing its NPI (new product introduction) capacity and further decreasing time-to-market for new customer projects. The Valor software suite is industry’s leading manufacturing NPI software, handling data outputs from all major CAD providers and speedily-generating accurate machine programs, assembly documentation, test and inspection operations, with full DFM/DFA reporting.

Although the company only went live with the new software in Q2 on 2015, AWS’ Group Technical Director, Robert Lackey reckons that AWS and its cusomers are already reaping the benefits of greater data integrity and faster documentation cycles. He comments: “We estimate that on a complex assembly the Valor software enables us to be 45-50% more efficient in bringing a new product through to production, delivering further cost reductions to the business and allowing the AWS Group to be even more competitive. This investment - just one element of our long term strategic plan - allows us to continue to support our customers as the complexity of their products grows and development cycles are shortened.”

Adds CEO, Paul Deehan: “Last year we handled over 900 NPI programs, reflected in orders from new strategic global customers for both our UK Technical Centre and our Slovakian manufacturing plant, and business won from traditional low cost locations such as China, Malaysia and Korea as companies reshore manufacturing back to Europe. The Valor software and other investments enable us to stay ahead of the competition and provide best customer value. Additionally, the global license supports our policy of seemless integration between our manufacturing locations, facilitating product transfer and NPI, and providing disaster recovery insurance.”
