AWS History


1974 – AWS was founded in Newcastle-under-Lyme, England. The company grew into electronics from mechanical engineering.

2005 – The company underwent a Buy-in management Buy-out, with a clear strategy to grow through acquisition and broaden its capabilities and geographical reach.

2006 – September – Acquisition of Jantec (Biggleswade, England), a specialist electronics overhaul and repairs company.

2006 – October – Acquisition of Cemgraft (Newbury, England), a leading edge manufacturer of high end PCB assemblies and finished product builds.

2007 – March – Acquisition of Electroconnect (Namestovo, Slovakia), a low cost manufacturing facility.

2007 – June – Acquisition of Instem Technologies (Stone, England) a complimentary electronics manufacturing provider close to AWS’s Newcastle-under-Lyme facility, allowing the consolidation of the two businesses into one larger entity based in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

2008 – May – Group Headquarters established in Worcester, England.

2010 – Significant investment in a new 28,000 ft² purpose built EMS facility in Namestovo, Slovakia.

2010/ 2011 – The company continues to see organic growth whilst broadening its technical capabilities and markets, supported by its accreditations such as; NADCAP 7003, AS/EN 9100, J-STD 001.
